Dr. David Amron first introduced mini liposuction to the aesthetic community. His mini lipo technique is a modified version of liposuction that is a smaller procedure than normal liposuction as it is performed on areas of the body that or as close as possible to the individual’s normal ideal weight. Dr. Amron’s approach to mini- liposuction is used for sculpting areas of the body that are disproportional.
Dr. David Amron sees many patients who are who are already near their ideal weight but still want to target one or two areas of the body which are disproportionally retaining fat. The procedure he developed is referred to as “mini liposuction.”
Mini liposuction is similar to liposuction in regards to incisions being made and fat taken out. However, it is a much shorter version which can be done in under an hour while only using local anesthetic.
Dr. Amron’s Mini Lipo Philosophy
Dr. Amron stresses, “Mini liposuction is about correcting areas of imbalance, it is not about weight loss!” Optimal liposuction results are largely due to the keen judgment and sound skills of the surgeon. This is even more important when you have a patient who is at their ideal bodyweight with a thin fat layer. Through the artistry, aesthetic eye and skill of Dr. Amron, patients achieve their perfectly redefined body contours.
How do You Know If You are a Candidate for Mini-Liposuction?
According to Dr. Amron, the ideal candidate for mini liposuction is:
- A man or woman who is already thin.
- Has some genetic disproportion that is typically found on their abdomen, arms, hips, flanks, inner thighs, and outer thighs.
These disproportionately small pockets of fat are troublesome areas on men and women. These areas of the body typically are the first to show weight gain and the last to be slimmed down due to diet and exercise.
To determine if you are a candidate for this procedure, a consultation with Dr. Amron is needed. If you are not a candidate for mini-liposuction, Dr. Amron will discuss with you a regular liposuction treatment plan.

Why would I Consider Mini Liposuction?
If you are a candidate for this procedure and only have very small areas of localized fat deposits, the main advantage of mini liposuction over regular liposuction is the fact that local anesthetic is used for mini liposuction. This is an important consideration because when a local anesthetic is used, the patient is awake and less time is needed for the procedure. Patients are able to get up off the operating room table 10 minutes after Dr. Amron completes the procedure and walk!
Another advantage according to Dr. Amron, is that since the patient is awake during their mini liposuction procedure, he can direct the patient to position their body in different ways so he can expertly sculpt the targeted area. Also, there is no need to worry about scars. The incisions Dr. Amron makes are so small that any scarring is virtually invisible. If there is any scarring it may appear as little nicks on the skin.
Dr. Amron points out an additional advantage is that the recovery time is much faster and you can return to work and regular activities soon. However, as with traditional or regular liposuction, a compression garment must be worn for a period of time.
If a patient has a genetic tendency toward retaining fat in one or two specific areas, he or she may work hard to keep these areas down by dieting. This can result in other areas looking too diminished. After mini liposuction, if these patients gain weight, the weight will be distributed in a more even and proportionate manner.
As with all of Dr. Amron’s liposuction patients, the ultimate goal is to a make a patient’s disproportionate body … proportionate.
